Are you facing these challenges too?
Limited space for drive systems
In tight or compact applications where space for drive components is highly restricted, it's challenging to accommodate larger cylinders or drive systems.
Susceptibility to moisture and environmental factors
In applications where the drive components are exposed to moisture or other environmental factors, conventional drive products are quickly damaged or compromised due to their lack of protection rating.
High maintenance effort due to regular lubrication
In applications where drive components require regular lubrication, the high maintenance effort results in valuable time being lost, leading to increased costs.
How to overcome these challenges with the MINI
Compactness
The MINI is extremely compact and ideally suited for applications with limited space. With the motor integrated directly into the cylinder, it requires less room.
Waterproof
The MINI is equipped with a protection class that shields it from moisture and other environmental factors. These protective measures ensure reliable performance even in demanding environments and outdoor applications.
Lubrication-free
The MINI is equipped with lifetime lubrication, meaning it doesn't require any lubrication. This significantly reduces maintenance effort and saves valuable time, as regular re-lubrication is not necessary.
Innovative: What makes the MINI actuator so special
MINI actuators consist of a combination of spindle, nut, motor, and control devices, packaged in an optimized stainless steel or powder-coated housing. With this drive type, we rely on a PAN-bronze nut to maximize the MINI's lifespan. Additionally, MINI drives come standard with limit switches and safety limit switches to ensure timely shutdown at end positions. Thanks to the hollow shaft motor, the MINI achieves its main advantage: minimal axial space requirement without sacrificing performance.
Here's an overview of our 5 sizes with a standard stroke of 300 - 500 mm and expandable with different connection heads and position switches:
✔ MINI 0 (up to 1 kN and 30 mm/s)
✔ MINI 01 (up to 1.6 kN and 130 mm/s)
✔ MINI 1 (up to 3.5 kN and 136 mm/s)
✔ MINI 2 (up to 14.6 kN and 49 mm/s)
✔ MINI 3 (up to 26 kN and 29 mm/s)
Unbeatable Advantages of a MINI by GROB
High performance in a compact size
Thanks to the hollow shaft drive, the smallest MINI (186 mm length) can exert up to 1000 N of force to lower or lift loads.
Suitable for harsh conditions
Thanks to its stainless materials and IP65 protection rating, the MINI finds application not only in the food industry but also anywhere harsh conditions are present.
Variable power supply
In the standard configuration, different motors can be used. Voltage options include 24 VDC, 1x230 VAC, and 3x 230/400 VAC. Special voltages for markets with different grid voltages can also be accommodated.
Custom configuration
Thanks to a wide range of standard available options, the MINI drives cover a very broad range of applications. Possible options include potentiometers, encoders, limit switches, planetary gearboxes, force-dependent shutdown, and others.
Meets high hygiene requirements
The MINI complies with the requirements of EU Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004 on food hygiene. This results in easy cleaning even in rough plant washdown areas, where the devices withstand high-pressure cleaning with hot water without damage. Thanks to its rounded and compact design, dirt pockets are avoided, preventing the accumulation of contaminants.

Success Stories: How GROB's MINIs are transforming the industry
How 56 MINIs Ensure Safety in an ICE Factory
In the newly built ICE factory in Leipzig, 56 Mini 3 units are deployed. After the train is brought in, platforms are tilted to the edge of the roof using the linear actuators to secure against the fall of a worker from the train roof. Keep reading to learn more about the solution!
Enhanced Safety for the Munich Volkstheater with 54 MINIs
Linear actuators play a crucial role as technical and safety-related innovations in the world of theater and musicals. A notable example of this are the MINI drives used in the stage technology of the renowned Volkstheater in Munich.

FAQs about MINIs
What are the advantages of a MINI?
- Fully made of stainless steel
- Protection rating up to IP65
- Very compact due to hollow shaft motor
Can I attach my own motor to the cylinder?
No, the MINI and linear cylinders are complete systems and cannot be expanded with other motors.
What sizes of a MINI are available?
MINI 0 (1,000 N), MINI 01 (1,600 N), MINI 1 (3,500 N), MINI 2 (14,000 N), MINI 3 (26,000 N)
How does the force-dependent shutdown work with the MINI?
Through a spring assembly, a defined force can be combined via the spring constant. When the spring assembly is compressed, a limit switch sends back the signal. Advantage: The limit switch can also be adjusted in position, allowing the customer to precisely adjust their force point.
What braking voltage do I need for the MINI?
You can choose between 24V, 230V, and 400V.
Are there also stainless steel versions available?
Yes, the use of stainless steel materials is a common practice for environments with aggressive media.
What options for spindle mounting (head variants) are available for spindle drives?
For the spindle end, the standard range offers options including threaded end, articulated head, ball joint head, flange plate, bearing flange plate, and pin. You can find corresponding dimensions in the General Catalog 2023 (grob-antriebstechnik.de)
Can the products also be used in ATEX areas?
Yes, screw jacks and MINI cylinders can be used within certain limits for ATEX zones as well.
